August 2023 – Hub Site Update

In general, no post-sprays were applied to the Miscanthus area or other areas. The aisles between crops have not been sown with grass yet. Also, we have not ordered the wheeled strimmer and the Herbidome. Moreover, we have no plan to spray off the grasses demo plots area.

Miscanthus giganteus

  • No disease problems.
  • No pest issues.
  • No damage
  • Weed control has been done (hand weeding)

Eucalyptus

  • 12 plants look dead with no new green growth.
  • No pest issues.
  • No disease problems.
  • Weed control has been done by hand weeding.

Black Locust ‘Turbo’

  • There is some pest damage. Most damage on the Obelisk is from hare damage before the fence was erected. Bases are still green which should regrow.
  • There is some insect damage. No insects were found.
  • Established well.
  • Weed control has been done by hand.

Alder

  • Rust starting to appear on some plants, especially around the protective cover.
  • Weed control has been done by hand weeding.

SRC Poplar

  • Establishment is good.
  • No pest damage.
  • No disease issues.
  • Hand weeding has been used to control weeds.

SRC Willow

  • Some leaves have started senescence from the bottom of the plant.
  • Lots of planting errors
  • No disease issues.
  • Weed control has been done by hand weeding

Miscanthus Athena

  • No disease issues.
  • No pest damage.
  • Weed control has been done by hand weeding.
