April and May 2023 – Hub Site Update
- Areas that required a second glysophate treatment prior to planting were sprayed.
- Planting of woody crops was undertaken on the 19th and 20th of April. Alder, Black Locust varieties, Eucalyptus, SRC Poplar and SRF Poplar were planted by teams from Rothamstead Research and IBERS.
- The IBERS team installed tree guards on the Alder, SRF Poplar and Eucalyptus over the following days to prevent any initial pest damage.
- Black Locust varieties were cut back to ground level as directed in guidelines from the supplier.
